Scirpus angustifolium, also known as Scirpus angustifolius and Eriophorum angustifolium, is a vigorous spreading perennial which thrives in poorly drained, acid soil, and has clumps of dark green foliage. It gets its name, “cotton grass” from the hairy texture of its white flowers, which bloom in summer, and provide a dramatic contrast to the dark green foliage.
